In addition to finding Schematics, the characters can get the store to “reverse-engineer” objects.  This process entirely consumes one item, (or a full starting clip of ammunition)

Or maybe tools exist in unmodified form in store, modification schematics can make Weaponized versions available, security override could make weapons available (pistol and rifle)

Some mining equipment could be usefull as a melee weapon as is.

 

 RIG (Resource Integration Gear)

A Civilian (base) Rig Could is 1000 creds.  required for interaction with ship computer systems, storage, and communications/Recording/Mapping functions   (AC 9, can be worn with Armor or modified armor, stores 1 weapon and 5 items)

Level 1 Maintenance rig for 5000 Creds  Required to use Rig related Gear like Stasis, Kinesis, Air supply, Gravity Boots, or storage.  (AC8, Store 10 Items 5 minutes of air)

 

All weapons require an entire round to reload.
